The measure
The Landing Scan
A reading of what your organisation actually took from your last message, and what it did about it.
What it measures
What people did, against what you said you wanted to happen. You declare the intent in writing before the message goes out. Afterwards, the people who received it say what they took away and what they will do differently.
The distance between those two is the reading.
Not whether they understood you. Understanding is easy to score, and it stops at the halfway point.
How it runs
- One anonymous link, no signup, identical for everyone.
- A first wave straight after the message, while what people took is still what they are working from.
- A second wave three weeks later, which is the one that shows whether the meaning held or drifted.
- Downward messages are read by sampling the people who received them. Upward and sideways rooms are never sampled, so those are scored on whether the reading we predicted was the one that happened.
- Every figure comes with the response rate it was drawn from.
CRAFT prepares the moment. The Landing Scan says what happened to it.
On its own
Run it once on the last thing you sent before we ever spoke, and you get a reading of a message nobody coached you through. That is the line everything after it gets measured against, and it is worth having on its own. Run that way it is opening to a first group.
Inside CRAFT 91
A Scan follows each of your three events, and a second one three weeks after that. So by the end of the quarter you are not being told the work landed. You are looking at whether it did, four times over.

Start with the reading
The most useful first conversation is usually about a message you have already sent, not one you are about to.
